The Crimson Guard are a gang encountered in BattleTanx: Global Assault.
In keeping within the theme of former military breaking off into gangs after the apocalypse, the Crimson Guard is no exception. Hand picked soldiers from the British army were given the distinct honor of being part of the royal guard at Buckingham Palace. They're know for their loyalty, discipline, and being a walking tourist attraction to annoying foreigners on vacation.
During the X2 viral outbreak, the royal guards stood in defiance to protect the British monarchy against the growing chaos. As the female population of the United Kingdom, the royal family barricaded themselves along with many nobles within the confineds of Buckingham Palace all the way to a secret location away from the public. The royal guard stood out front in the ensuing chaos while the royals engaged in extravagant parties in a scene that mirrored the story "The Masquerade of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe. Tensions began to brew within the guard as they were conflicted between abandoning their post or standing guard to protect the royal court celebrating while the world began to collapse around them.
That question would soon be answered as eventually, the Queen, most of the female members of the royal family, and female help were infected by the X2 and died leaving the prince and nobleman. With the matriarch of the monarchy gone, and the nukes detonating, the hope and morale amongst the guard cracked. Soon a rift began within the guard and the side who decided to takeover eliminated the more patriotic faction. They soon murdered the men left in the royal court who encouraged the feasts while Great Britain tore itself apart.
Free from the current monarchy which they deemed a shadow of what the country once stood for, the reaming Royal guard comendered tanks and became the Crimson Guard.
They are identified by their Royal guard uniform and a few mechanical alterations brought on by fighting and the nuclear blast. They terrorize the streets of London, protecting The Tower of London and many bridges into the city. They are hell bent on tyrannical power, reglorifing Great Britain in the new era, and recruiting survivors to this cruel and treacherous gang. Regardless of their atrocities, they are ultra nationalistic. They attribute the plague and nuclear war as result of a nation consistently falling in to decadence. In reality, like all gangs, they scour survivor enclaves with in the greater London area for females to be their queen lords. In response to the horrors by the Crimson Guard, a tribe of women who survived the effects of the X2 virus but have become sterile rose up to fight the tyranny and battle for London. This tribe is known as Iron Maidens, the Crimson Guards' sworn enemy.
Enter Cassandra, who promises the Crimson Guards total reign of the British isles as well as enslaving the Iron Maidens for their compliance. They too, fall under her influence as many other gangs within The United States and Europe. They form an alliance with Les Miserables and the Cold Warriors. However, they are soon thwarted by Griffin Spade's Army and Madison's Militia on their quest to reunite with their son, Brandon, and to stop Cassandra once and for all
